RDP Enable in Kali Linux 2.0.X<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

I t was difficult to work to many screen when you doing some Home LAB Testing. moving screen to screen was keeping you diverting.<\/p>\n

So i decided to enable RDP service in to Kali Linux, so i can RDP using my windows 10 and do some CEH Lab testings.<\/p>\n

I have KALI Linux installed on my Esxi 6.0X Home LAB.<\/p>\n

How to install KALI Linux is simple 5 Steps.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Download KALI Linux ISO<\/li>\n
  2. Exsi Setup as NEW VM<\/li>\n
  3. Use ISO isntall, follow the Install Wizard and easy steps.<\/li>\n
  4. Setup IP address of your LAN network.<\/li>\n
  5. Connect using SSH and test it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Thats all you have Kali linux install over Esxi for testing.<\/p>\n

    Lets Configure Kali linux for the RDP Service.<\/p>\n

    You can either Login to Kali Linux using Esxi VMWWARE Remote console, or Putty for SSH in to it.<\/p>\n

    I used prefer to ssh using Putty.<\/p>\n

    Make sure you have updated the all packages upto date, you \u00a0can do with below commands.<\/p>\n

      \n
    • root@kali:~#apt-get update && apt-get upgrade<\/li>\n
    • root@kali:~#apt-get dist-upgrade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      install the RDP server you run the following command from a terminal window:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • root@kali:~#apt-get install xrdp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Uninstall the Gnome-desktop and use another window manager (Like we \u00a0use LXDE):<\/p>\n

          \n
        • root@kali:~#apt-get remove gnome-core<\/li>\n
        • root@kali:~#apt-get install lxde-core lxde kali-defaults kali-root-login desktop-base\n

        • \n
          update-alternatives –config x-session-manager<\/div>\n

          \"\"<\/p>\n

          Choose “\/usr\/bin\/startlxde” \u00a0 ( above screen option 4).<\/p>\n

          Now it set to XRDP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Now \u00a0start the XRDP server with the following command:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • root@kali:~#service xrdp start<\/li>\n
          • root@kali:~#service xrdp-sesman start<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

             <\/p>\n

              \n
            • If want it to auto start after reboot you need to run this command also:
              \nupdate-rc.d xrdp enable \u00a0 \u00a0 (It will not start xrdp-sesman automatic)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Now you should be able to RDP directly into your Kali Linux:<\/p>\n
