{"id":1420,"date":"2019-07-02T20:02:00","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T19:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.balajibandi.com\/?p=1420"},"modified":"2022-02-02T08:06:21","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T08:06:21","slug":"isr-4k-factory-reset-to-return-to-cisco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.balajibandi.com\/?p=1420","title":{"rendered":"ISR 4K Factory reset to return to Cisco"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This guide i used to reset to factory before ship back to Cisco. so there is no config in the router.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reset Cisco ISR4XXX Router to Factory Settings :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To reset your router settings back to the original factory Configuration, follow the below steps.&nbsp;This will delete(Format) any configuration you have on your Cisco router.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The steps below assume you have connected your&nbsp;<strong>Cisco router<\/strong>&nbsp;to a console&nbsp;and have accessed your router\u2019s command-line interface(CLI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>First switch off your router.<\/li><li>Then, switch on your router and within the first 20 seconds of startup send a&nbsp;<strong>break<\/strong>&nbsp;character to the terminal.<ul><li>Windows OS \u2013 If you are using PuTTY, on your keyboard press&nbsp;<strong>Ctrl + Break<\/strong>&nbsp;buttons at the same time; or you right click on the bar at the top of the PuTTY window and select&nbsp;<strong>Special Command &gt; Break<\/strong>.<\/li><li>You may also refer end of this blog &#8211; how can do it.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Next, You will immediately be taken to the prompt.<\/li><li>After that, at the prompt, type the following command to tell the Cisco router to skip the existing configuration or settings on startup:&nbsp;confreg 0x2142.<\/li><li>Then, at the prompt, type the following command to restart the Cisco router:&nbsp;reset.<\/li><li>The router will restart shortly.<\/li><li>Next, If you are prompted for initial configuration dialogue, type&nbsp;<strong>no<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Then, After the loading has stopped, press&nbsp;<strong>Return<\/strong>&nbsp;to be taken to the main prompt on screen.<\/li><li>At the prompt:<ul><li>Type&nbsp;<strong>en<\/strong>&nbsp;to enter privileged mode<\/li><li>Type&nbsp;<strong>write erase<\/strong>&nbsp;to issue the erase comment<\/li><li>Type&nbsp;<strong>y<\/strong>&nbsp;to confirm erase command<\/li><li>Type&nbsp;<strong>configure t<\/strong><\/li><li>Type&nbsp;<strong>config-register 0x2102<\/strong>&nbsp;this tells the Cisco&nbsp; router to process existing config on startup<\/li><li>Type&nbsp;<strong>end<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Finally, switch off your router and then turn it back on. Your router has now been restored to the original factory configuration.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a>How to Simulate a Break Key Sequence<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Break key sequence simulation is useful if your terminal emulator does not support the break key, or if a bug does not allow your terminal emulator to send the correct signal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>The hyperterminal under Windows NT had this behavior in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Complete these steps to simulate a break key sequence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Connect to the router with these terminal settings:1200 baud rateNo parity8 data bits1 stop bitNo flow controlYou no longer see any output on your screen, and this is normal.<\/li><li>Power cycle (switch off and then on) the router and press the SPACEBAR for 10-15 seconds in order to generate a signal similar to the break sequence.<\/li><li>Disconnect your terminal, and reconnect with a 9600 baud rate. You enter the ROM Monitor mode.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If all these methods fail to properly send a break, retry the procedures from a different terminal or PC platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Happy Labbbbiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This guide i used to reset to factory before ship back to Cisco. so there is no config in the router.
